My name is Louise Begay. I am a Dineh (Navajo) weaver of fine quality traditional rugs. I live in Black Mesa Arizona. I am 39 years old with 3 children ages 9 1/2, 5 and 15 months. I started weaving my first rug when I was16 years old. Since 1992, I have been a full-time weaver.

The rug is who we are and talks about where we came from. This is our story. I weave the Two Grey Hills design which came from a place by that name in New Mexico and the Storm pattern design that came from our ancestors and has been passed on through our family for many generations. I learned the Eye Dazzler from my mother and it is composed of a blend of traditional designs and my own imagination.

All my rugs are woven on a hand loom using natural wool. Your purchase of my rugs will help us to survive. A small to medium rug takes about 2 months to weave and requires a great deal of effort and patience. It is my hope that the rugs that will be purchased will be respected and cherished.
