RE: The Hopi Tribe Petitioner vs. Marsha Monestersky, Respondent
in the Hopi
Tribe Exclusion Process, Hopi Indian Reservation, Kykotsmovi,
AZ
Support Statement for Marsha Monestersky
Dear Sir:
Please consider this letter as my ongoing support in favor
of allowing the
above named respondent, Marsha Monestersky, to continue to reside
in the Four
Corners region of Arizona in her human rights assistance of the
Dineh people
therein.
As the few remaining families in the Big Mountain region face
the February
2000 deadline, their only lifeline has been Ms. Monestersky.
To force Ms.
Monestersky off Indian property now, at this late date, would
accomplish
nothing, but would certainly cause these elders additional worry
and anxiety.
Those of us who wish we could be as involved in human rights
work as Ms.
Monestersky pledge our support of her efforts and respectfully
ask the Hopi
Tribe to consider a more humane resolution to the ongoing disruption
in Big
Mountain.
Please allow Ms. Monestersky continuing access to the people
she loves, the
people who also love her, and the people who face grim uncertainty
in the
face of the upcoming deadline.
Sincerely,
Shelli A. Morgan
